Four-Letter Word

It’s no secret that I ate my way through some pretty crappy things I encountered during my life. The desire to maintain this weight loss once and for all forced me to confront a lot of schtuff – some of which I had no idea even existed.

When I walked out on denial, it gave cupcakes a bitter taste, which made binging and emotional eating a tough place to visit.

I’m not welcome there anymore so why do I still occasionally knock on the door?

The perplexing thing to me now is how I can navigate through really stressful times, but then stupid shit trips me up. What is different now than when I first got to goal?

I think it comes down to a nasty four-letter word. P-L-A-N. I used to sit down every week and really look at the coming week facing all the obstacles head on and develop a food plan that guaranteed success. Then I did a really crazy thing – I followed it. Shazam!

I think I need to dust off this strategy and put it to action. Before I plan my meals/snacks, I need to know the challenges, duh. Is it realistic to cook if I’m not going to be home until 7:30 p.m., or do I really need to eat a big dinner if I indulge a bit at lunch?

As I jotted down some of the “opportunities” I faced in the coming week, I also realized that complacency breeds boredom, which takes me down a nasty path very quickly.

Anybody have any yummy meal/snack ideas? Based on blog stats, a fair amount of people pop in here, but not many leave comments – I could use the input right now. Help me out – click on “comment” and give me your favorite snack or meal suggestions. Let’s keep the conversation going.
